We love a historic project and the adaptive reuse of the Aug W. Smith building. Originally a department store in the mid-1900’s, the $10.5 million renovation of this historic Spartanburg icon retains its early 20th century character while ushering in modern style and amenities throughout the building.
Floors provided flooring for the 45 apartments and amenity spaces. Infused with natural light, crisp and airy luxury vinyl planks from Mannington were specified for common areas and the apartments. LVT offers clean aesthetics as well as high-traffic durability. This flooring also compliments the lovely pops of color created by interior designer, Sandra Cannon in the amenity rooms. There, we provided residential furnishings from Wesley Hall, Vanguard Furniture and Kingsley-Bate, along with rugs from Loloi Rugs to complete Sandra’s vision of an urban high style “residential” look. On the ground floor, the downtown SMC Studio Space is fresh and youthful. In their conference area, pattern carpet by Shaw Floors fit the bill.
The Aug W. Smith building is yet another example of why we at Hodge Floors love our work, our continued partnerships and our connection to our historic and thriving community.
