As you look across the skyline of Spartanburg, South Carolina, it’s clear: big things are happening! Whether you’ve called Spartanburg home your entire life or you’re new to the Burg, it’s impossible to miss the transformation of our city. Change like this doesn’t happen overnight. It’s the result of decades of commitment, partnerships rooted in trust, and a shared vision for a brighter future.
As we approach the 60th anniversary of Hodge Floors, we reflect on the relationships that have shaped our journey. One of the partnerships we’re most proud of is our nearly three-decade-long relationship with Robins & Morton, a world-class construction company that shares our dedication to excellence.
A Partnership Built to Last
Our journey with Robins & Morton began in 1996 when we worked together on the new Regional Outpatient Center at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. That project marked the start of a relationship that has grown stronger over time, with 16 projects completed together since then, including the new Emergency Center at Spartanburg Regional, the AC Hotel, and numerous projects for Wofford College, Spartanburg Methodist College, and Self Memorial Hospital.
In 2015, Robins & Morton deepened their commitment to Spartanburg by opening a local office. Kevin Graffeo and John Burleson, two leaders of the company, relocated to the Upstate and quickly made Spartanburg their home.
“From the start, we knew the quality of Hodge Floors’ work,” Kevin shared. “When we came to work on projects like Wofford College and the AC Marriott Hotel, we asked around, and Jamie Hodge was always on the short list for quality and reliability.”
Trust, Collaboration, and Creativity
What makes this partnership so special? It’s about more than just floors—it’s about trust, creative problem-solving, and a shared commitment to excellence. John Burleson reflected on Hodge Floors’ ability to handle challenges with grace:
I know if I call Jamie or Jon Wilkins, I’m going to get the answers I need. They don’t just show up—they think ahead, solve problems, and make sure every project is a success.
One standout example is their collaboration on the Wofford College senior housing renovations. The project was on a tight eight-week summer timeline, requiring careful coordination and quick decision-making. “We all sat in a room and figured it out,” Jamie recalled. “It was about making sure the project succeeded for everyone involved.”
Kevin added, “Even when timelines shrink or adjustments are needed, Jamie has consistently delivered. He helps us choose the right materials, navigates challenges, and ensures the client gets the best value.”
A Foundation of Partnership
What sets Robins & Morton and Hodge Floors apart is their shared understanding of what it means to be a true partner. As Kevin explained, “For us, the term ‘trade partner’ really means something. Jamie and his team embody that spirit.”
This partnership extends beyond the job site. The carpet in Robins & Morton’s Spartanburg office? Installed by Hodge Floors. When their team needs expert advice, they know Jamie will pick up the phone, day or night.
Even when faced with challenges, like unexpected changes or tight timelines, both teams approach the work with mutual respect and a shared commitment to the end result. “You’re never in construction without issues,” John noted, “but it’s about how you handle those issues. With Jamie, it’s always a conversation and a solution.”
Looking Ahead
As Spartanburg’s skyline evolves, so does the partnership between Robins & Morton and Hodge Floors. The two teams remain committed to not just meeting the demands of their projects but exceeding expectations and helping shape the future of this community.
One of the most exciting collaborations on the horizon is Fifth Third Park, the new minor league baseball stadium, a project that promises to bring new energy and opportunity to the area. “There’s a buzz in the air about the ball field,” Jamie Hodge said. “It’s the kind of project that brings people together, and it’s an honor to play a role in something that will mean so much to our community.”
This trust doesn’t just happen overnight. It’s built through years of collaboration, problem-solving, and a shared commitment to quality. Even in the most complex and fast-paced projects, both teams understand the importance of keeping the client’s best interests at the forefront. “At the end of the day,” Kevin explained, “it’s about making sure the client is happy and the project is a success. My experience with Jamie and his team is that they’re going to get it right —whether it’s the perfect flooring product, a quick solution to an issue, or just honest, straightforward communication.”
“My wife is from South Carolina and she was open to moving here. When we opened the office in Spartanburg, the town really started growing,” Kevin said. “From our first projects at Wofford College to building AC Hotel and now Fifth Third Park, Spartanburg has become home.We like the people and the community. I’ve had two kids here at Spartanburg Regional. We have enjoyed our part in helping this city grow.” “When I first moved here, I knew Kevin from one company event, and I only knew 4 people in the whole town”, said John. “It was no time until it felt like Spartanburg was home.”
As Spartanburg continues to grow, Hodge Floors and Robins & Morton are ready to grow with it. “The city’s transformation is remarkable,” Jamie said. “Being part of that change—helping create spaces that people love and that stand the test of time—that’s what drives us every day.”
Looking to the future, it’s clear that the relationship between Robins & Morton and Hodge Floors is more than a partnership—it’s a shared journey. “This is about more than just floors,” John said. “It’s about trust, teamwork, and being part of something bigger than ourselves. That’s what makes this relationship so special.”
The respect is mutual. “Robins & Morton is a world-class construction company,” Jamie said. “Their team is organized, efficient, and focused on making each project a success for everyone involved. It’s a privilege to work alongside them.”
Here’s to many more projects, partnerships, and opportunities to build together for the Spartanburg community.
